How to spot fake power tools in Sri Lanka
Copies of famous brands are everywhere. These checks help you buy the real thing.

A copy of a famous drill can look right on the shelf and fail in a week. Here is how to protect yourself.
The price is too good
Genuine professional tools have a price floor. If a “Makita” or “Bosch” is far cheaper than everywhere else, ask why.
Check the label and packaging
Real tools have clear, sharp printing, a proper rating plate with model and serial number, and well-made boxes and manuals. Spelling mistakes are a giveaway.
Ask about warranty
A genuine tool comes with a warranty honoured by the brand’s agent. If the seller can’t explain the warranty, walk away.
Feel the weight
Copies often use less copper in the motor and lighter castings. A genuine tool usually feels solid and balanced.
