What to look for

• Disc size: 100mm (4 inch) for everyday cutting and grinding; 180mm or 230mm for heavy cutting of steel and stone.
• Power: 600–800W is fine for home use; 850W and above for daily trade work.
• A spindle lock and tool-free guard make disc changes faster and safer.
• Slide or paddle switch — paddle switches stop the tool when you let go.
• Check that carbon brushes and spare parts are available locally.
